The roof has been raised!

2/2/2016

It is so nice seeing our new metal roof!
The basic roof is up and holes for vents, solar panel wiring and such will be cut next.
Snow "stops" will also be added above doorways and such to prevent snow from sliding down at the wrong time.
As you can see in a couple of the photos above, snow has a tendency to slide off in segments, and it does so very easily so the snow stops will help prevent that in areas where people are likely to be.

There is a close up of the "cap" peice that sits at the crest of the roof. Simple, yet elegant in its design. There are a lot of aspects of a house I never thought about before.

When the solar panels are added, they will attach to clamps which are secured to the standing seam between each section. In this way, there are far fewer roof penetrations.

Speaking of solar panels...
Additional conduits (2) from outside where the inverters will be, to inside where the backup battery will be, have been added.
This was a very challenging task as the floor truss was very crowded with HVAC, plumbing, electrical and low voltage.
We missed this earlier when we were making our plans, which just goes to show how critical good planning is.

Luckily, due to some creative problem solving by our electrician, Scott, we are all set now.
